About this product

Trail Running Socks

On a trail the sock is a filter. Grit, sand, seed heads and pine needles get in over the top of the shoe, and once they are under the foot they are an abrasive being pressed into skin for the rest of the run.

So the cuff is knitted closer and higher than a road sock — tight enough at the ankle to keep debris out, not so tight it becomes a tourniquet. That is the whole design brief, and it is why a road sock in a trail shoe is a poor experience even though it looks identical in the packet.

The other two changes are wet performance and abrasion. We use a merino blend here rather than pure synthetic, because merino keeps a usable amount of loft when it is soaked and a stream crossing does not end the run. And the toe and heel are knitted at a heavier gauge, because scree and rock take the toe box apart first.

FAQ

Trail Running Socks: quick answers

What is the minimum order for trail running socks?
Minimum order is just 12 — with bulk pricing tiers as quantities grow.
How fast will my order arrive?
Your free mockup lands within 24 hours and the finished order ships in about 2 weeks — express turnaround is available for tight dates.
Can we just use road socks on trail?
You can, and you will spend the run with grit under the foot. The difference is the cuff: a trail cuff is knitted closer and sits higher so debris cannot get over the shoe collar. Nothing else about the sock has to change.
Why merino rather than pure synthetic on trail?
Because trail socks get soaked and stay soaked. Synthetic dries faster but collapses flat when wet; merino keeps enough loft wet to still act as a cushion. On a road sock we would say the opposite.
